Media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. While many governments have attempted to increase their level of regulation over these sites in recent years, there have been numerous cases of different governments policies clashing with one another, thus reducing the effectiveness of said policies. Recently this has been seen in regard to the European General Data Protection Regulation. The need for a global superstructure has been identified, which would allow countries to craft effective policy cooperatively. As such the Global Platform Governance Network has been proposed as a solution.
