Over the past few years, disinformation, fake news, and “alternative facts” have entered the mainstream lexicon. Yet, the practice of leveraging information manipulation to wage non-kinetic war has been a key component of Russian and Soviet military strategy for the better part of the last century.
In her lecture, Allie Wong will discuss the foundations of modern Russian hybrid warfare, dating back to the genesis of the Soviet Union, and examine several case studies of Soviet/Russian disinformation efforts that shaped the geopolitical landscape and informed public health. Taking a comparative look at the AIDS epidemic and coronavirus, as well as the invasions of Afghanistan and Ukraine, together, we will examine what strategic parallels can be drawn between previous Soviet -and contemporary Russian Federation information operations.
Allie Wong will also share the work and research she conducts at Limbik and how Limbik’s proprietary AI/ML capabilities are reshaping the idea of MDM mitigation, information defense, and societal resilience in a post-truth digital world.
This event is scheduled to occur on the 16th of March 2022 at 7.30PM CET/6.30PM UK.
